Welcome to The Ghostly Guardian!

This is the homepage of Jim Corrigan and the ghostly guardian himself, The Spectre!

If you are new to the character, this post will get you up to speed!

"The Spectre is a fictional character, a superhero who has appeared in numerous comic books published by DC comics. The character first appeared in a next-issue ad in More Fun Comics #51 (Jan 1940). He was created by Jerry Siegel and Bernard Baily, although several sources attribute creator credit solely to Siegel, limiting Baily to being merely the artist assigned to the feature."

That's initially what you will find on Wikipedia and yes, you read that right. Jerry Seinfeld's precious Siegel (co-creator of Superman) brought the vengeful hand of God to DC publications.

Check out The Spectre's episode on the Secret Origins Podcast (on The Fire and Water Podcast Network) for a discussion on how James Corrigan became The Spectre. The Secret Origins Podcast is Ryan Daly and a rotating selection of guests reading and reviewing issues of Secret Origins, an anthology series published by DC Comics in the 1980's.

Here is a link to the Spectre's Secret Origins episode:

It's beyond insightful and makes for a great introduction to the character. Seeing as how The Spectre shares the issue with Deadman, you are in for a ghastly, ghoulish and Spooky treat.

Of course there is no substitute for heading to your local shop and digging through back issue bins. There is something to be said for reading these stories on the old paper they were originally printed on. An expensive habit indeed...

That's all for now folks! Stay spooky!
